What is kept
Letters from any alphabet (including accented letters like é, ñ and ü), digits, and spaces. Line breaks are kept, so your list stays a list.
Removing characters can leave double spaces behind, as in “O’Brien & Sons” above. Press Then clean up spaces to tidy them.
To remove just one particular character, such as quotes or dashes, use Find and replace instead.

Questions
Does it remove accents?
No. Accented letters are letters, so they’re kept.
Can I keep periods or dashes?
Not with this button. Use Find and replace to remove only the characters you don’t want.
