A 5160 label holds four lines of 11-point type comfortably. Longer lines and five-line addresses are set smaller to fit; if a label still has too much text, the preview shades it so you can shorten it, or use the Avery 5161 or 5162, which are wider.
Labels that use the 5160 layout
Avery 8160 is the inkjet version of the 5160 with the same layout, and the package of many other Avery labels, and of other brands’ compatible labels, says “use Avery template 5160”. Choose 5160 for all of them.
How to print on Avery 5160 labels
- Paste your addresses with a blank line between each one, one per line, or the address columns copied from a spreadsheet (heading row included).
- Press Make labels and look over the preview. Half-used sheet? Set Start at label to the first empty one, counting across and then down.
- Press Print labels, and in the print window choose Scale: 100% and Margins: Default or None.
Print the first page on plain paper and hold it against a label sheet before using the labels; Draw label outlines makes the check easy.

Is this the same as the Avery 5160 template for Word?
It prints the same layout, without Word: no template to download and no mail merge. Paste the list and print.
What’s the difference between Avery 5160 and 8160?
The 5160 is made for laser printers and the 8160 for inkjet printers. The labels are the same size and in the same places, so they print the same.
How many lines fit on a 5160 label?
Four lines at a normal size, five in smaller type. The text is shrunk automatically so it stays inside the label.
Can I make return address labels on 5160 sheets?
Yes: on Return address labels choose Avery 5160 to get 30 per sheet instead of the 80 small 5167 labels.
Is my list uploaded?
No. Your browser lays out and prints the labels; the addresses never leave your computer.
